Golden Showers

Golden Showers

I while ago I asked a question to see if there was a later flowering cream/yellow/ rose to flower on after Vilchenblau had finished up the side of this arch. I found this on my trip to Brigg g.c. last week. The rose is a lovely Golden Yellow, fading to lemon and has an open type habit flower. I am hoping it grows as well as the Crimson Showers rambler has done on the other arch.

I have this rose, Oliveoil. Pansypotter identified it for me as I inherited it and did not know the name..... and I have seen it in the gardens of some GOY members as well. It is not a rambler though, it is very elegant little rose with incredible parfume. I can smell it at great distance. You will be really pleased with it. I have second flush of blooms going on right now.
Your garden looks lovely.

Thanks Teds, glad you like it :O)

Klahanie it hasn't got a perfume this one, it did say it was a climber just want it to cover the left side of this arch. It just said Climbing Rose Golden Showers on the label and I have Crimson Showers on another arch which is a rambler. Have had a look at your rose and it does look different to my one, there is no hint of a blush to the petals just a beautiful golden colour all through the petals. Going to google it and check it out next. :O)

Oliveoil, I do not know for sure mine is Golden Showers .
We inherited it with the house and I was told by GOY members that reminded them of golden showers. I was searching for the name on internet for ever.

The buds have definitely darker colour in it and the scent is really strong. It fades with age to all yellow though. Mine grows very upright , it has strong stems, and stand unsupported. It is very tall like a pillar about 8-9 ft .

I love mine whatever the name is and I hope you will love yours and that it will cover your arch nicely.

It is nice to know the names though - I have a very very pale pink almost white rose which is a vigorous climber in the front garden, no idea which one it is. It is beautiful though. I am sure I shall love this one whatever it does, it is the right colour for me and fades to a pale lemon as it ages. Just hope it is a late flowerer it says on the information that it is July to September when it flowers and grows to 3m and only has a light scent. Googled it and got lots more information on it yesterday. Thanks Klahanie :O)
