Bird feeder

I get a lot of rooks and crows in my garden from the fields out the back of us, and they can be a pest. I do put some food out for them as I find them quite comical and they are very intelligent. I know this from the amount of battles I have had trying to keep them off the bird feeder. The problem is they cling to the bird feeder pole and shake it till the food drops out. I came up with the idea of putting vaseline on the pole so they can't get a good grip, but this morning I ran out of Vaseline and have had to resort to my expensive face cream, well at least they will get soft feet LOL

It has taken me at least 3 mouths to work out how best to stop them from steeling the food. I used to wake up at dawn to here the squawks! from the garden only to find the feeder being mobbed. I wish I had taken some photos now, it is amazing how clever they are and so funny!

:) We have the same issue, but not with the feeder, which is not being used. We have loads of house sparrows raising their young under our house roof tiles, and in mid summer the Crows were visiting at dawn to try to snatch the fledglings. We'd hear them stomping around on our flat roof above our room at 4am. Scott took to chucking water up from the bathroom and shouting at them. Thankfully it seems to have stopped now, even though the sparrows are still feeding their babies.
