Coreopsis

This is a lovely one,Paul..I must look out for this variety..I don't have any Coreopsis,but this has tempted me,as I have been wondering what to fill a gap with :o)

These are a good choice. They need a good sunny spot.

I hope I get to see photos. These are bi-annuals. The first year the seeds sprout, you just get green leaves and maybe, if you are lucky, one or two blooms. The second year it blooms like nobody's business. If you deadhead, you will get successive flushes of blooms. If you let it go to seed, the plant will reseed itself and you will get blooms every year and volunteers growing in all sorts of odd places but they look nice anyway.

Oh what a shame,Paul,I didn't know it was a bi annual..Thought it might be a perennial..I have enough trouble digging out unwanted Lunaria (Honesty)_ seedlings..It is for my long border ,and I am trying to make life a lot easier now..with established plants..but thank you for the information..Back to the drawing board then ? :o) I'm sure I will find something more suitable..

Oh Sandra, I'm sorry to bring in the bad news. One option is to try to find mature plants at a garden center. It's just that first year that's tricky. You can even look on Amazon.com. I bought my viburnums through the mail and they shipped me beautiful plants very promptly.

I'm glad you told me,Paul,thank you for that..We have lots of Garden Centres near to us,so I shall be doing the rounds soon :o) In fact,I have just seen a photo from Hollyeves,of Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' ,which may fit the bill..nice and bright,which is what I need,in front of a Clematis, which is a bit boring when the flowers have died off..it would light that area nicely,next to a Blue Echinops..:o)

Yes that's an excellent choice too. You may even do what I do - go to the garden center for one thing, and come home with something totally different - plus this, that and the other thing.

I had my arm twisted to visit to a Garden centre this afternoon,after a lovely lunch out,Paul :o) I found a Rudbeckia,but not 'Goldsturm'..This is a newish variety (so it says on the label) called 'Little Gold Star'and a smaller variety..very hardy,approx 45cm x 45 cm ..UK grown too..I will post a photo soon..I'm a happy lady today .Lol.
