Not all crocuses flower in the spring - some have evolved to bloom when the autumn rains come after a summer baking. This one is from Turkey and endangered in the wild as unscrupulous collectors dig it up.

Have considered it but a bit pricey if it does not increase well. Will watch with interest to see if next year yours has multiplied,
You are fortunate not to be plagued with Squirrel
