thank you both, the garden is hanging on very well - lots of chopping out to do but not starting on it yet it is still much too nice out there to chop it out.
Its great to see so much colour as late as this in the season. Which is great as it all helps with the darker months approaching for us all.

Very lovely! Isn't it great how well things are still looking....but having seen the forecast, I think it will all look quite different tomorrow after the gales arrive...but perhaps not on our side of the country...here's hoping!

It is raining hard here today Karen, quite breezy but nothing strong enough to do damage up to now. Hope it doesn't get any worse, the rain will do good we haven't had rain for ages.

Horrible here. My standards are almost horizontal, my Salvia has completely snapped off at the base, pots over, canna snapped off at the stem, lemon Queen knocked flat, and raining all day. However, I think it is calming down. Same again tomorrow. :( once it stops, I shall have a lot of work to do. Woke up in the night and was worried about my greenhouse...but it's fine of course.

slowing down a bit here now, think the worst of the wet is over at least, still breezy but no damage that I have seen.

Its 4.22pm here and Scott has just taken the dog out for a walk at last. We had to go out and get stakes for the roses and the young trees, so they are all safe now I think....phew, I really hate windy days...been in a bad temper all day, cleaning, watching telly....hate it!

think you have had the worst of the weather over the north of Scotland and the west of England, we are just wet down here. I do not like the strong winds but do not worry as much about it since they re-built our chimney stacks, they were so weak before they did the work that any really strong wind would have taken them down. The trees are not near enough to cause us too many grey hairs and if they blow down Paul will get the chainsaw out and cut up logs for the fire.

Yes, we could have free wood for years if the farmer would let us on his woodland! I wonder if he would....up at the old Mansion House site there is literally tons and tons of wood.

I suppose it is a safety thing with farmers in woodland on their land, they are probably not insured to allow people to cut wood up. When we first came here the estate agent was very happy for us to clear away the fallen wood, maybe the latest agents would not be so happy. lol who knows, if you do not ask - you do not find out or is it they do not find out. lol.

Well, tbh, there's enough wood lying in Janet's woodland to keep us going for a long time, so we won't bother....yet!

I love this photo Olive, I could happily sit there with a good book.

Hi Stroller, I do not do a lot of reading, but I do like to sit out there with a coffee and we spent a lot of time out there with food and relaxing this summer. It has been such a lovely summer. Been out in the front garden taking out some more grass and digging over the patch to re-spot a Buddleja and a Ninebark shrub this morning, its been a great day out in the garden, turning cloudy now though so sat having a play with my computer and knitting before oh gets in for tea. Thanks for looking in. Oo:O:))
