Its on about 3-4' of trunk too. I don't think I have it in the best of spots to show it off Sandra, but those thorny leafs and tips gave me no choice a couple of years ago and I had to move it from the front yard. It draws blood!

I have a similar one in a 12" pot....do you think it would have more chance of flowering if i gave it a bigger pot?

Yes. Since you have a greenhouse for spring and fall exrta growth,a A. ferox or A. thraskii are other similar large "tree" Aloes that I feel would do better flowering in large potts then A.marlothii.
A.marlothii though, does have when stressed for water in hot sun more colorful foliage. Sometimes they get turquoise leaves with some orangy tints. In a pot for you, that's possible.

I love the way they change their colours according to climate...at the moment mine are all thirsty..i find its the best way to get them through the winter here. we have had a week of sub zero temperatures but its going to warm slightly from tomorrow so I am planning on watering all my babies for the first time since about october. I couldn't have watered this week even if i wanted to as my hose pipe was frozen for most of the week....thanks for the advice Stan
