We have a rat now coming into the garden, I think he must be coming for Glens corn I put out for him. Next door also keep chickens so the rat is probable going there as well. I don't mind the odd one, but if he starts a family and we get over run then I may have to take action. He has such a sweet face through he was climbing up the bird feeding pole this morning. This is him making his escape so the photo is a bit blurred.

We had rats when we had a couple of chickens Teds they also ran up the bird feeders plus it didn't stop there they raided the birds nests eating the youngsters, we didn't have anymore problems after the chickens died , I loved having the chickens they were funny characters free ranging round the garden eating all the slugs !

I had to do something I hated to do which is put out poison; my dogs chewed a hole in the siding last fall and rats moved in. I tried trapping and that didn't work. Now the hole's been fixed so hopefully no more rats next year.

She/he's probably feeling hungry :)
I once saved a rat from being drowned ... It ran up a pipe in my gran's back yard, and my grampa put something there to stop it getting out. Then he turned the tap on, to drown the rat.
But 10 year old me, unblocked the pipe, and the rat escaped :o))
I was told "What did you want to do that for !" but I didn't like the thought of the rat drowning ... he couldn't help being a rat :o)
