Pinecone

This is my beautiful Pinecone, who passed away from cancer in November. He was only 5. He had fibrosarcoma, which is a very, very aggressive tumor. By the time I found the first tumor, it was too late - another was growing in his abdomen. Even if I had thousands in the bank for surgery, chemo and radiation, the prognosis for this particular cancer is very poor; survival after all that treatment might only be a year or so, maybe. I think about him every day and still cry a lot. This photo was taken about a week before he died. We spent a lot of time together in his last few weeks.

Oh how dreadful :( I can sympathise with you.
You never get over a thing like that, but with time it may become a bit easier. And you'll never forget her. I find that my pets are like part of my soul, so they are always with me even though I can't see them. It's the same for everyone ... if they just let it be so.

Oh Lauram, I'm so sorry you lost Pinecone. She was beautiful! We had two cats each within twelve months of each other who had to be put to sleep for the very same reason, so I understand exactly how you're feeling. I've not been able to face getting another cat since...maybe in the future..

Hywel, I always feel like he's still in the house. I still talk to him even though it sounds silly.
Of course I have other cats, but this one was special.
Waddy - you lost two to fibrosarcoma??? How awful. One was traumatic enough. I can't imagine losing two.

I know...I couldn't believe it when the vet diagnosed our second cat with the same condition. It's not silly to talk to Pinecone, even though he's not there. I find myself thinking of our two at the most funny times. When I'm weeding is one such time, the youngest of the two 'tiggi' would often accompany me, getting her nose right up to mine as if to say 'are you sure that was a weed?' I still miss her after more than 12years.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your loss of Pinecone and that you had to go through that ordeal. When my cat of 14 years passed, I went to the shelter and adopted a new kitten. It sure helped.
