Good point. We'll have to see what's left after the fire. It's destined for a severe pruning!

My Husband gave ours a severe haircut in late Autumn... I'm not so sure it will beable to reward me with many, if any flowers this Spring... :o(

I know they set buds for next year over the summer. You should, however get a few blooms that your husband has missed. I use July 4th as the a deadline for pruning forsythia.

Thanks Paul, I'll try to remember the date! The shrub with the short back and sides is too close to the house and was growing into the guttering (we live in a bungalow) hence the severe haircut! I hasten to add that it had been planted by a previous owner...
