A very uncommon visitor. They used to be plentiful but their numbers have dropped.

Beautiful. I've never seen one, although we do see downy WPs all the time and I had three pileated WPs in my oak tree one morning. A nest in your tree would be lovely!

I haven't seen one either until the other day when I looked out my kitchen window to see one feeding at the bird feeder. I had to do a little research to find out what it was.
