I don't seem to have much luck with Coreopsis,Paul...most of them die, although I still have this one,but it's struggling to get going..fingers crossed ..

I have high hopes for your success with these Sandra. I'll say a prayer.

Good luck with it.I have found, over the years, they were very short lived in my old garden.I tried a few times but never kept one more than a couple of years.it was probably my heavy clay.

Paul 1,and Paul 2 ! If it dies,it dies,so it will be the last rites,.. ..and I can soon find something else to replace it with :o)...

Hi Paul. They are biennials, but if you let them reseed, those will be next year's plants. When I deadhead, I just leave them on the ground. The birds will eat some, some will sprout up.

Oh right, I thought the ones I'd had were marked as perennials.Maybe that was wrong then.mine certainly never self seeded.

Some of mine never got the chance,as the slugs/snails ate them ! My Early Sunrise was labelled as Perennial too,and from a reputable Garden Centre.it might put a spurt on soon ..no self seeding on mine either...

wow, I don't know why that is. Your GC mislabeled them. You get leaves the first year, flowers galore the second year - then kaput! I planted a couple starter plants from seed about 4 years ago. They come back every year - not the same plants, their progeny. I don't do anything special with them. The bees gotta pollinate them.

Paul,I got it wrong..the Coreopsis were the ones the slugs ate,so the one I was thinking about,was a small Rudbeckia,with a similar name.,which IS a perennial...so you are right.I do apologise..and actually,nothing like a Careopsis ! Lol..Time to get my act together :o)

Strange, I'd always thought it was a perennial and this listing also refers to it as a perennial.

I guess in a sense they are perennial. They come back every year, but they are from seeds dropped the parent plants.

I always assumed they were perennials ..When I've had them they've never been labelled Biennial which is a bit misleading, isn't it really?? But, that would explain why mine have been short lived although the original plants have lasted more one year. I was never fortunate like yourself to get any self seedlings but that is probably due to our heavy clay!!

That must be it - heavy clay. I don't do anything special with them.

Yes, probably.
