two years ago I found a few rudbeckia plants in a very ugly lawn that was going bad. (another story..too long to relate) I transfered them to the garden partially because I had so much space to fill and thought they might help the beds look complete...then they took over and crowded the campanula out completely... only the iris resist them! No problem for me...I love them.

Thanks Lincs! I was looking at the bed and thinking ...gosh it looks ok. On the right side of the pic is a very tall black walnut...the first year of planting things were fine... second year..starting to notice some stunting and lack of vigor... this will be a third year for the bed and I'm a little worried. It's going to be move the bed or remove the walnut. Think I'll try moving some of the perennials to the other side of the stream...
