I think all over Europe rosehip sauce is used served with baked boar as delicious food. Of course, I do not make sauce, as I can buy it in the shop for one euro, the same tea, but it is good, if you have also your own BIO bank :-)

When my first child was a baby, in 1975, I could get a free bottle of rosehip syrup when I went to the baby clinic. It was extremely sugary, though, and is now pretty much out of favour. I have to admit I didn't use it.

Rosehip has been for decades recommended by physicians for breastfeeding mothers. It stimulates production of milk plus contains a lot of vitamin C and antioxidants, so important for a woman after labour.

The syrup given out at the clinic was intended for the babies, due to the Vitamin C. But even though it was supposed to be diluted, it was reckoned to have too much added sugar. Are rosehips very bitter in their natural state?

No, absolutely not. It tase like a delicious fruit tea. It is not sweet at all.
Try it. Pick them, if you have wild roses in a vicinity. The best time for picking rose hips is around first frosts (here at the end of September). They are used dried.

Do you use the rosehips, Katarina? I know they are supposed to be very high in Vitamin C, but I'm not sure if that's all of them or just certain varieties.
