I love this little plant I grew from seed. Long lasting bright orange sprays. It wasn't suppose to bloom until next year but did so anyway. For the Monarch Butterfly.

Yes, Asclepias Tuberosa. It's perennial. The botanists are trying to take "weed" out of the name to make it more marketable.
Julia: I only got two plants out of an entire packet of seeds. Once they get going, they become tough, drought tolerant plants.

I tried growing some about 10/11 years ago too but couldn't get them to germinate !

They have a poor germination rate. I'll just let these freely reseed. I think I was lucky to get the 2 plants that i have.

Asclepias......and you refer to this as a weed. It's certainly a cultivated plant over here!
