No - we've only been back about an hour from visiting my Mum in London. Dreadful journey, it took over 6 hours...I shall have a look - thanks!

Yes, they are. I don't know why yours should be straggly. These are growing in the back borders which were composted last autumn, so the soil is probably quite rich too. Sorry that's no answer for your mystery.
