Amy there is a steep bank in a woods were I go with Jamie and I scattered hederifolium seed on it about five years ago and for three years I could not see a single leaf then last year I spotted several flowers about eight feet further down than where I had put them, this year there are a lot of flowers pink and white can only assume the rain washed the seed further down.
I did the same with Cyclamen coum in another area they have flowered for a couple of years, people pass them on a rough path without even seeing them.sad.

Thats wonderful Brian they will be yours to enjoy for ever, one day someone will spot them and wonder how they came to be there ,its your gift to the world ! I do that sometimes with rose cuttings its lovely to see one in flower in an odd place ,I really want to plant one of my ' Rambling Rectors ' in the Church yard climbing up a tree !
