Bare-rooted Lophophora williamsii

Repotting this 12-year old denizen of the Mexican - USA deserts and dry-forests revealed this much larger than expected, swollen root. Repotting a plant of this age is considered a hazardous undertaking, fraught with the danger that the water-sensitive, rot-prone root will succumb to the process, become a soggy mess of goo and kill the plant. 'Tis done and I will discover soon enough whether all my best efforts are in vain or not? I'll keep my fingers etc crossed and hope for the best. Time to move on. It can only die once and I will survive even if it doesn't.
