Baby bee hive survived the winter

4 hives and this baby one and all have got through the winter.

Only the baby one at the moment and that will be going up to the 5 acre water meadow next 2/3 weeks where they all live in peace and quite and no pesticides.

The butterflies during the summer are amazing.

Had a friend whose father kept bees, ( she hated them) took the hives each year onto the Yorkshire heather moors, in his camper van, and guess what, one time one of the lids came off and the van became full of bees. She refused to go with him again.

Is this the current home for the Italian Queen ?

yes that correct OBW just about to move from the winter Castle to the summer Palace, in two weeks time lots more room.

I will take a photo if you you would like to see ? this one is going to my 2nd Apiary site , another 5 acre meadow with no pesticides used, this site gets the early morning sunshine till about 2.00pm , where the other site gets the sun from 12pm until sun set.

Yes please, always interested in apiary activities GG. Nowt wrong with a cosy Winter castle but would lve to view the Summer palace once she and her followers have settled in.
Was last year's honey yield up or down on the previous years ?

it was a bad year but amazingly had just under 90lb out of the two productive hives the nasty bees produced the most.

When I bought the jars the lady had so many to sell !! and told me I had done better than most ...
