Saxifraga fortunei 'Silver Velvet'

Saxifraga fortunei 'Silver Velvet' (Saxifraga fortuneii 'Silver Velvet')

A nice colour form that will do a similar job to a dark heuchera. hopefully with fewer problems.

I bought this plant about 3 years ago, have found it quite tricky, it did well the first year, but has got smaller and smaller, so Autumn 2015 I dug it out of the garden and potted it up to recouperate. Doing really slowly.

These plants are very hit and miss, they seem to take ages to get going, and when they do they take ages to get any larger, which is such a pity, because I really do like them....

I must go and see if it is still surviving, its in a side border that I haven't been down for a little while. I 'll let you know.

I did get flowers on it once, then overwinter the purple leaves looked slimy. Rain and frost damage?

well it is in full flower but the leaves do look a little tatty.
