With its intoxicating perfume, I've only seen these outdoors in Florida. If you can grow a Gardenia, consider yourself a master gardener.

You can put it outside once all danger of frost is past. It likes partial sun, moist rich acidic soil. The real challenge comes with trying to overwinter them. They still need lots of bright light & humidity.

I agree with you about growing these, Paul. Maddeningly my late mother in law could not only grow them, but could also get cuttings to grow, grrr!!

yes they are. They contrast nicely with the dark green foliage. In Florida, you can smell them half a block away. Amazing!
