Coming along nicely, well all but the beans, again they have failed miserably for the second year in a row. Got some seed planted up in pots for replacements though - I will have beans eventually.

yes it is ok, mainly because it is where the old wooden greenhouse was and the compost that was used and the leaf mould we used in there is in the ground there.

It all looks good Oli' you're my kind of girl...never give up. What kind of 'beans' are you trying to grow?

Trying a different one this year Cobra, it is a climber and a bit like a French bean. Also French beans. The climbing bean has purple coloured flowers too so it will be a nice change from the red or white flowers I have grown previously. Think they do not like the soil some have started and then browned off it could just be that it is the conditions we have had after I planted them it was cold and dry.

They sound very different. Mine are just your bog standard variety. I started them off in the greenhouse and didn't plant out until mid-May. I have to say, to begin with, they just sat and sulked, but over the past couple of weeks they've got going quite well. We'll wait to see if they produce any beans worth having. My Broad Beans meanwhile, started in the same way are romping away.

not done broad beans this year as only me eats them. Not worth the space when only one person eats them. Everyone enjoys the French Beans and Runner beans though. I am hoping the ones I have set in pots in the greenhouse come and then I shall plant them outside and keep my fingers crossed. lol :O)

I'm really the only one who likes broad beans here too, but my OH freezes them for me too (bless him) as he does all the cooking and he knows I love them. Good luck with French beans from the greenhouse.

You never know...a similar thing happened to me last year with my peas. The ones I sowed direct didn't seem to be showing at all, but the ones I had sowed in pots in the cold GH were fine. Not long after I had planted them out, about this time of year, guess what? yes you got it, the ones I'd planted direct suddenly appeared! I think it's called Murphy's Law, or something not quite as polite lol!

lol yep I know that law too :O)
