A gorgeous day in New York City on Sunday in front of the iconic Flatiron Building.

This was suppose to resemble an actual 'flat iron' and nearly suffered the same fate as Stafford House. I agree it looks more like a slice of cake or cheese.

It's taller than old/new Stafford House...! :D

I get the "flat-iron" reference but it always looked like the prow of a huge ship, to me. With so much "renewal" going on it's nice to see something beautiful and venerable.

LOL, I never thought it resembled a flat iron - more like a slice of wedding cake or wedge of Swiss Cheese. The architecture is really quite remarkable up close.

It must be a real perk to have the penthouse on the point!

It's was built in 1904 - nice to see a piece of old New York.

Paul is this building shaped like a slice of cake or wedge of cheese? :D It reminds me of Stafford House in King William Street, London EC3 ~ I was working there in the late 70's for Lloyd's of London. I went back to show it to old Hubby last year while we were at the Bank of England Museum - Sadly the old Stafford House had been demolished and a New Stafford House built in it's place... It was Cheese shaped like the old building, but had absolutely no character! :o(
