Specie aquilegia from North America, growing anything from eight inches to over two feet tall in meadows, open woodland or on alpine slopes. My book on columbines states it "exhibits practically no self-control when it comes to consorting to other members of its genus."

Oh My! LOL! She's very pretty, you have to admit. I wonder about her progeny though. Found some wild columbine (orange/yellow) growing on a mossy outcrop under a hydro pole along our road... sounds like a strange location, but, there they were. I have tried to encourage them in my "garden proper" for a year or so and had little success. Nature really knows how to deal a come-uppance!
