I used to have one of these in my first garden. I remember a friend coming over for coffee once and she was overwhelmed by it. Said it was like a whole garden in one plant. I think I know what she meant. :)

It is pretty stunning.

My variegated one has just flowered and flowered. Must be my best shrub in the garden.

I photographed my developing flowers on 23 Feb, still going strong as yours, but the variegated is more tender than the plain leaved.

What temps do you think your plain one can stand in winter Siris? I've tried them a couple of times but lost them but maybe they would over winter in the unheated greenhouse?

Dawn, I don't have the plain leaved one, only one variegated, bought last year, over wintered successfully, but I had a variegated one about 15 years ago, lost it after about 5 years.

We had the variegated one for over 15 years, lost it this last winter, would like to try it again....yours is looking very healthy Amy....

I've got some coming along from seed. The plant they came from had the colours reversed.

Thank you everyone , Dawn mine has plain leaves its planted on the house wall outside ,north west wall , it stands up to the winter weather o.k I put a good thick pile of mulch at its base ,the only thing is it often gets frosted leaves but they tend to fall off in the spring being replaced by new leaves ..
