A pond at last

A pond at last

My sons have bought a property in Sweden with two ponds. A lot of work will be needed to make it perfect but their mum.....me.....is desperate to get out there. I have always wanted a pond. It has been named Loch Atherton. There is a meadow and a woodland too. There is 30 acres of forest next to it with lots of animals. John (in photo) saw a moose.

Quite an adventure Linda. Is it a retirement pad for you and Barry? That would be very generous of the boys.....or could it be that they are planning to get some free landscaping and property management....hmmmm....kids eh? ;)

They are setting up a retreat for artists in the Swedish countryside. There is a huge barn they are going to turn into studio space. It is a fantastic spot......the houses are traditional Swedish red with white round the windows. There is a lovely climbing red Rose round the door of the main house, a large apple tree with lots of apples, Hostas and Ferns. I imagine the local animals might like some garden flowers to eat. They have a friend who is going to clear some of the land round the ponds. Artists will be able to paint the view and in time they can build a couple of lodges there. All very exciting.

Mike is head of workshops in the painting department at the Royal College in London, so he has good building skills and John is an artist and director of Stour Space arts centre in London, so he has the management skills.
Barry and I are advisors in all things.......
We intend to go out in August so I will take lots of photos.
Our Swedish is not going well!!!!!

Lol...your Swedish is not going well! Lol! Well, you have answered my question to you in my messanger epistle! I'm worried though...have you ever seen that swedish drama 'Legacy' If it gets anything like that you are in for a rough ride! It was about an artist who died and left her house to her estranged daughter..but her other daughter had a dream of making the house into a museum of her mother's work, and her partner wanted an artist/musician's hippy retreat! It was brilliant...you should look it up! Lol!
