...approaching from the West, can be quite violent.

Hi Klahanie. Yes we had a very violent storm with intense rain, wind, thunder & lightening. It lasted about two hours. However, it's been so hot and dry here for the past couple weeks, it was a welcomed relief. The garden looks so much better now.

I wish we would get some rain. Although we do not have it hot (we are in mid 20's) we do not get any rain in summer. We are in Olympic Mountains (Washington) "rain shadow". In the end of summer our big western cedars suffer tremendously but always recover after winter rains. Everybody is on water restriction in summer and even we have our own well I try to respect it. Soaker hoses are laid all over and on timer is set for an hour each day. I like thunderstorms but not wind.

Wow, that sounds very hard Klahanie. Sometimes we'll get drought but that is very rare. It gets extremely hot here. Today is over 100F. The storms could be extremely nasty. Occasionally a tornado will drop down, but none has hit my house. Usually, the snow we get in winter will carry us through the hot summer. If we don't get enough snow, then summer could be drought.
