It was in a pot but becoming pot bound so decided to stick it in the ground hoping it is going to survive in its new bed.

no it was just a stump that I planted up not rooted - found in the wood and used as a feature. Ants have eaten away at it and weather rotted it so moved it up to the dry spot up near the greenhouse under the lilac tree, got bitten too the little horrors did not approve of me disturbing them.
