We have a wild native eldeberry- locals are said to have made wine from it back in the cowboy days Jen.
Nice plants too..stand out in spring-summer blooms.
Does your daughter ever name her homemade wines and brews?

Lol Stan, no she hasn't. Last year she made white wine from the flowers and red from the berries from the wild ones that grew near our last house. She loves doing things like that. She also makes rose hip syrup and also a elderflower syrup. We also used to have wild chestnuts growing there near us so she would make up baskets of all her homemade produce and give them as presents

Well, this whole kick Im on of edible things? its making having plants that only look nice seem a bit boring.
Small yard- I tell the plants "You better be interesting to earn your keep here".
I almost do that....

Lol, she just likes going foraging. Her grandad got her into it when she was little, taking her on walks into countryside and teaching her what you can eat and make things from. She was out this Sunday gathering rosehips. I'm more into a pretty garden :-).

Lol, homebird. I haven't tasted the wine yet :-). She made some elderberry wine a couple of years ago and it was lovely but the one she made last year wasn't very nice. When she sawi had grapes in this garden she asked if she could have them this year to have a go making wine with them so fingers crossed it comes out nice.
