Dunnock

Dunnock

Mr Dunnock sits proudly on my cotoneaster and his offspring can just be seen on the far right peeking through the branches. Two broods were successfully raised this year and they certainly kept the parents busy.

Thank you for comments.
The kite photo was taken last year at a feeding station on a farm in Galloway. At 2pm the farmer would scatter a cartload of meat (rabbit I presume) around this field and honestly it was like Heathrow airport. The kites would gather in great numbers wheeling and diving for the meat and eating it on the wing. Fascinating.

Carleton did you find that the crows came down first to the meat, and the kites afterwards? That's what happens at the Kite feeding station north of here.

No, the kites managed to keep most of the meat for themselves and the crows were left with the leftovers! 1 or 2 kites actually buzzed any crows that looked a threat.

Interesting. Here it looked as though the kites were watching the crows to make sure the coast was clear before landing!
