Asters and Rudbekia

The asters have done so well this year, last year lots of them failed to flower as the sunlight failed to appear enough to encourage them out.

sorry Dd. no idea, in fact this is the first time I think it has flowered, been in about four years. I have split it up and put some in other parts of the garden and they are all in flower.:O)

think the dry summers have knocked it and then rain coming at the wrong time. This year we have had lots of sunshine with some rain to keep them growing and helping them produce the flowers. Its the only explanation I can think of. We do get very dry in a summer here at this side of the country and I find watering a pain mainly because it is such hard work dragging out a hosepipe to get around the borders. Also the trees take up lots of the rain water that we do get and block out lots of the daylight when in full leaf.
