HEADLINE - Bird crack squad try to save drowning plastic duck!

When clearing in back garden a while ago I found a plastic duck. Stuck it in the bird bath as a joke but it wouldn't stay upright. I left it there anyway thinking it would make hubby smile when he cut the grass next. This morning was sitting in conservatory when notice I
had all these birds, sparrows I think but I'm not very good at recognising them taking a bath. I've had this bird bath for years but never seen any bird use it before today so I reckon they where trying to save the duck :-).

Glad to have made you smile Klahanie, the poor duck is still on his side in the water so maybe they weren't such a crack team after all :-). I found the duck at the back of one the border. It was so nice watching these birds in the bird bath, it put a smile on my face just watching them.

We had to move our bird feeding station, it took the birds about a week to find the new place!

I had the bird bath in my last house but next door had 3 cats and I've got one that I think thats probably why it was never used but here, being quite rural, Star the only cat around and is 14yrs so think the birds feel happier.

Our cat only ever seems interested in catching Mice ... pretty sure there are some living in a shed in the garden behind ours. She sits by the fence and stares at it for hours ... dopey cat! :o)

Star is dreadful for catching thing, back in Kent she would bring home baby rabits, birds and mice then let them go in the house. I ended up putting bells on her collar. In the end she ended up with 3 as one bell made no difference and she stiĺl was releasing all sorts of things. Hated doing that to her but got fed up of then trying to catch what she brought home. She brought a mouse home the other week and dropped it at hubby's feet as he was coming down the stairs. Lucky it ran into the dinning room and not the front room and I managed to put a glass over it. I suppose it stops life getting boring, bless her :-)
