never heard of this plant before but I liked the look of the foliage. cheaper than a bunch of flowers so if it doesn't survive to next year.......

I was just looking at this one on Edrom Nursery site. It has lovely helleborus type flowers. It is supposedly a relative of Hydrangea so it will be interesting to see how it does with you.
