Rhododendron in front garden

Rhododendron in front garden

This is in the corner of garden. Only has a couple of buds due to being very leggy. After flowering, plan to do as Brian suggested and do a over 2 year hard prune.

Thanks Dawn, it is in a sorry state, but Brian has given me advise on how to revive it.

There is a white one as well by dining room window. They did put insome really beautiful plants. They have only moved into the town and hubby saw her the other week, in talking, hubby told her I had been working hard in the garden and she admitted that once they planted something, they then never weeded around it and they had lived here for 40yrs so 4hat was a lot of yeears worth of weeds I had to clear last year, lol, still not got to all of it but getting there :-).

Believe it or not weeds give nutrition to the ground but if by plants they will take the goodness from the plant.
You have done well then trying to clear 40 years worth of weeds. Give your self a pat on the back from me. :o))

Ah, thank you Dawn. The trouble is the main weed is horsetail :-(. So got a long fight on my hands. I had never come across it before.

You will never get rid of Horsetail
Years ago I watched a bloke on the allotment dig ten ft down the width of his allotment to try and get of it he failed he ended up getting another allotment it takes all the goidness out tge ground too.

I dont know if this will work for you as I ve never tried it not having horsetail.

Thanks, will look it up. Trouble with digging is if you miss just a little bit, then it comes back. Last year I spent the whole summer on my knees going through soil as carefully as could. Much less as come up this year so using weed killer more this year. One of our customers last year, for a living treated Japanese knotweed and he gave me some weed killer. Hoping that will at least reduce it.

Yes like bind weed thats the same. I hope your weed killer works to erradicate it all.
