Can anyone id these for me, please? Taken on the stem of a rose.

I have had an answer from a bug id webpage. Apparently, it's not a bug as such, but something called a sawfly. Which can decimate roses. So I'm afraid they have got to go.

Just had a google , so they are "swafly"... I have never seen the adult moth before .. but have had the caterpillars on various plants ,
I had them once on a 12 foot birch it was leafless in days
They must not be very tasty to the the birds either !

I've given them a blast, and I am keeping watch. I think I've got rid, but only time will tell.
