Oh yeah. They are the kind that you can feel,but not see when they stick you. Tweezers and a magnifying glass help. If they do break off?..the body seems to dissolve them in a couple of days. Not the worst cactus.

I ve had an indoor one Stan yesrs ago where many of times had to pull spikes out my head arms and hands 2ft tall it was difficult to move with out getting one in me . Interesting the body dissolved them
