I have found that the other colors tend to be a little weak, not always coming back the following year. The T. vanhoutteii I posted last month has flowered every day, and continues. Maybe not as big or bright; but a lot more flowers. I also have plants of T. lilacea that I started from seed growing really well.

Snap 3pb. My first Tigridium flowered today, a red, the most hardy I think. My reds have been in the borders about 6 years. I supplemented them two years ago with a mixed packet which showed white ones (rarer than hen's teeth)got pink and yellow flowered, but don't know if they return this year.

No white 3pb, only shades of yellow red and pink. Loved Wylie's tender ones, so exotic.

Sorry I missed your post Wylie

Thank you Wylie for letting me know the lighter colours are not liable to come back .
That's great your seeds of T. lilacea are doing so well .

Yes Siris Wylie exotic ones are fabulous

Sorry I thought you had a white but I can see now you said they were rare.

I read an interesting idea for Tigridias today in a round robin type newsletter of the Pacific Bulb Society. One person suggested that at the end of the season you dig up the bulbs, wash the dirt off, and while they are slightly moist, put them in a sealable plastic bag and store them in the refrigerator until spring. While I am suspicious of mold, after washing them, a quick dip in a 10% bleach solution and then rinsed should prevent that. Tigridias need a fairly dry winter rest.

Thank you for that Wylie and your instructions I shall try it.
