Im surprised by your comment Keith. Does Oxford suffer cold winters? Or wet perhaps? I do seem to have lost one group of lilies here, but only one. And I have clay!

Cold! Pretty much on a par with Scotland. RAF Brize Norton (three miles as the crow flies) or RAF Benson (twelve miles) are frequently the coldest in the UK over the winter. The trouble is that being so far inland we miss out on a lot of the benefits of the gulfstream.
These were in clay too.
