Laurel

The laurel is central in the photo. When I moved here it was about 4 times the size but it looks much better now that I have given it a (massive) trim. You can also see the horribly overgrown buddleia to the right, and the shrubs that are in the garden next door, that I have had to cut back from my own garden. The ground underneath doesn't look so great yet but I hope to fill it with colour at some point. My dad gave me loads of bulbs that I have put in but will have to wait and see what pops up where.

Buddhlia's are beautiful and yes the butterflies love them but I fully understand why some people say they should only be planted along dead railway lines, I have two here, one I did plant but t'other is a gift from the birds, my grandson helped me prune mine twice last year and we made them below waist height, one is back to over 12ft in less than a year......Its so easy to be wise after one has planted something...
