Actea pachypoda white baneberry "doll's eyes"

Very strange...the name makes it seem a bit creepy! Lol

They are as poisonous as the red actea, 3d. I think the usage came about from folklore, Karen. People used to make their own dolls and the berries were the right size.

yes, Karen ...according to folklore. :-) homemade dolls are an interesting subject to google. How inventive people can be and how much material there is to use in nature. They may have been used if someone lost the eye from their Chinadoll. the berries are about the right size. (I remember my Mom talking about "clothespin" dolls.)

Yes I dont think there would be so many plants in gardens if it was nt for birds dropping the seeds.

I am finding numerous small walnut trees! I think a certain little stumpy-tailed squirrel had something to do with that, too! It's always a treat to find evidence of animal/vegetable cooperation and coexistance.
