I've had this plant for ten years now and the colony is getting bigger every year.

A bit of shade and a bit of moisture. It's growing close to some healthy astrantias which like the same conditions.

Yes, I gave it a winter mulch for the first couple of years, but haven't bothered since. It was under a shrub to start with but has spread into more open positions since then.
