Trees for the forest margins... Beech and Dogwood.

There is a copper Beech at the farm and its just a heavenly
tree. I absolutely adore it. It must be original I think, around 180 years old, and the colours...like treacle toffees and toffee apples!

a copper beech... you know I've heard of them but never seen one. Interesting that other tree families have a copper or golden relative!
Just checked it out on Wiki and the reason is that it is European...from Sweden to Italy, and England and France to Turkey... the NA Beech is a longer lived tree and the leaves are more elongated. I can understand the attachment... beautiful tree!

Aaaaah...so quite different to ours then. Thanks for that, I never knew. It's like Oak trees. There are so many different vars. We just saw one in the same farm as the Beech, it has bigger leaves than our usual Oak and it drops its Acorns without their little hats, which stay on the tree. Still learning aren't we...which is good!
