Oh dear thats not good, we have removed some roses that were under performing and shrubs that were too old, if it looks a mess it comes out now, in a small garden everything has to look good
The garden was and is beautiful, despite what had to be binned!

Don't know about you guys but I look at plants at this time of year and feel like getting rid and try and recall how good they were earlier in the year, it's difficult getting the balance.

Sounds like we are all busy doing the same work, ie, getting rid of surplus plants. I have a small garden too & I want ideas about plants that keep on flowering throughout the summer. I have dug up my nice pink Michaelmas daisies & two nice Phlox because they are just green lumps all year, then look beautiful for only 3weeks maximum. Any suggestions welcome.

We use lots of evergreen plants for continuous colour, like Box, and Libertia, also grasses and several NZ plants....

Thanks Dd. I have a nice variegated sage, thyme, a winter grass, curry plant, dwarf hebe. I am looking for plants that will flower all summer, not just the once!

I bought some red ones last spring but they just sad in the greenhouse and never grew. I hadn't realised when I bought them that they would need to stay in the Greenhouse, so they went in the bin in the end. This year has been a bit like that for me. A lot of waste. Still, the garden was beautiful in spite of everything.
