Arum creticum - 2018

Arum creticum - 2018 (Arum creticum)

Needs a sunny position, protected from cold, and is probably best grown in a pot away from the south of the UK. This is the FCC Form, now named 'Karpathos' after the area in which it was found. Unlike arum italicum, it doesn’t spread itself around the garden and become a nuisance.

Well that's a thought for a southern garden. Do you mulch, fleece or cover with a pane of glass for protection. Andrew.

No, it has never had any form of protection since it was planted in 2005. The border faces west and the soil is clay, but the whole border was improved with 20 bags of grit before any planting began.

Nice to have one so early. Does it have the red berries? Interestingly my Italicum hasn't spread itself anywhere - I would welcome a few more.

Stera - no, it doesn't. I do appear to have one seedling further along the border but that's all.

Well they are beautiful - such a delicate colour and elegant shape. I hope the seedling flowers soon.
