Dawn, No I didn't deliberately split mine. It grew much taller than I thought it would, so I moved it. The baby might have been a piece of root, or a seed. I don't know which, it just appeared,

That's great you've got buds, just looked at mine, it's the colour of yours this year and some buds. The baby one is a lovely bright green mottled colour as was the original.
