Species daphne from China. Two very similar daphnes grow there, D. aurantiaca and D. calcicola. The former is a larger plant, often of untidy habit, while the latter is quite a dwarf plant. However, it grows on very alkaline soils which may account for its small stature, and some experts consider them a single species.
