This is a real outcast. It looks like a tropical desert plant..but it can be grown down ( some say) to z5. It's a bridge between the north and tropical south flora of Texas.

How can it be in both Agavacae and asparagus families I wonder? Sounds like a pretty unusual plant too!

What else?
See who else is growing Hesperaloe parviflora (Red Flowered Yucca).
See who else has plants in genus Hesperaloe.

So many plants I've never heard of Stan... I wondered if its related to Aloes so looked it up and was amazed to find that in the Agavacea. Agaves and Aloes are apparently not remotely related. Two unrelated families achieving the same solution!
