Daphne calcicola 'Napa Hai'

Daphne calcicola 'Napa Hai'

Bought from our speaker Ger van den Beuken at SRGC Dunblane meetng in April 2016. This rare and beautiful Daphne is truly a miniature. It has been grown outside since I bought it but was brought into the cold greenhouse when I became concerned that the flower bud I could see was threatened by the heavy rain. A second bud is about to open too. The plant is only 2" high so just a baby.

It is fragrant too 3d. It will be staying in a pot as it is very small.

Sorry I got the name wrong. I have corrected it now.

I was going to ask if it was scented being a Daphne. That fine no problem with the mistake of its name but thank you for letting me know.

I emailed Ger to let him know it was surviving with me and he said he had never heard of it under 'Nanche' and corrected me. Hand written labels can become smudged so I will use that as an excuse lol. If you care to see a bigger specimen use this link

Thank you. Labels just do not last in our garden. I think Pottertons sell them.

Labels dont last in my garden either Scotsgran I gave up years ago putting them by the plants.

I splashed out on a label printer. It is good so far but it is not a cheap way of labelling. I found black plastic labels in the GC. I stick the white printed label on that then turn it away from the path edge. The black tends to get lost against the soil so it does not shout at you but I know I can pull it up if I forget a name.

Thats a good idea Scotsgran but it would nt work for me as com autumn spring and summer I get to many leaves seeds from full grown Sycamore and black Loctus tree s that over hang my garden which even reaches my front garden. I did at one time wrote a list of the plants and names but gave up in the end when some had died over the years.

Sycamore is a pain in our experience. We had two of them and an Ash in the garden when we bought the house. They were big enough for the kids to have a swing on one of them. Eventually they broke into the sewer drains so we had to cut them down.

Yes the leaves dont rot for ages the seeds are in their thousands embedded in the garden this one that over hangs is double and more of the height of the houses and very wide.

Its lovely to have a tree swing. I am hoping this one does the same break into the sewers as I contacted my housing they did nt like the thought when I told them the seeds are growing out of their house guttering they sent a man out he said he will do some thing he emailed them but he had no reply not heard any thing since .
