It's a bit strange, Karen. We've had some bizarre changes in rapid succession. Snow in mid-April, freezing nights right up to the middle of May..then, seemingly overnight, a few days of very hot temps and humidity..then rain and wind and the next day blue skies with arctic winds and night temps in the single digits. Dizzying how fast it goes from one extreme to the other.. BUT having said that and touched wood, I would say we're having something resembling a spring/summer. Some plants are confused and behind and some have blossomed and peaked in the short warm spell..now the early summer flowers are starting... my first peonie has bloomed and I lost my Ligularia Othello! Confusing? I think perhaps it was my defeatest summer of '17, when I gave up on things I shouldn't have.
Thanks 3d: I planted some of the iris Koolaide from my other bed into the "transfer bed" beside the lemon lilies to see if I could work the combo of complementary colours and complementary scents! They smell wonderful together.
