The little wall is made of disgusting aggregate - I want to paint it but himself won't let me. The builders damaged the wall so we repaired it with cobbles, which definitely helps!

Yes, my daughter has a similar issue. Her front garden wall is made of breeze blocks...very ugly. And topped with coping stones that are far too wide and keep falling off. So some of the residents have done the same as you and put concreted pebbles on the top. I think it looks cute and it definitely takes away the utilitarian look of the breeze blocks.

There's a lot of flint cobbled cottages in the village (although mine is brick). Vernacular materials always look best.

I love the Norfolk flint cottages ,I thought you might be in Wells PB with the sea and shingle ... Wells is one of our favourite places ..
