Agreed Hywel, if that ever happens you're first in line for sharing. ;-)
That's quite dry, Andrew.. hope August is closer to "normal'. Do you use mulches?
Penny, you are in one of the wettest parts of the UK, are you not? ... sand dunes here...as far as the eye can see!

I live close to Shakesphere country Lori very close to the centre of England Meriden.

I would nt say I lived in the wettest part of the UK at all.

Where did your sand dunes come from I did not know you lived by the sea.

No mulches, just "right plant, right place." 99% of my garden hasn't had a drop of water in this dry spell and it's mainly the things planted earlier this year that need it.

Same here , I just water something if it wilts.

Good Grief, Penny! that's fahrenheit right?... drastic. sorry about the sand dunes reference ..my silly sense of humour. Greenwich Observatory near you?
We have had a reversal of sorts... four days in a row of cloud..but very little moisture and sparse. A trickle now..and shower next. What we need is a major storm and three days of monsoon.
Have found the same, Andrew. I take my hint from nature..if it grows well I leave it alone! The top 1/2 inch of our soil is dusty dry and my phlox are wilting.
Hang in there, Hywel. Doing my raindance.

Yes fahrenheit Lori lol Lori I did wonder if you were taking the Micky out of your ground and weather over there. It becomes cloudy here but still hot no moisture the wind picked up yesterday I thought rain would come as its a zign of rain when it starts getting windy but nothing came. I was looking at the clouds today that look like streaks which means it raining up in the sky but nothing comes down it s only the past few years I ve noticed them more and more.
